Blog what you love, and the money will follow

Recently, I was trying to persuade a friend of mine to start a blog. Having learnt first-hand the joy of creating passive income, I wanted my friend to also start a blog that he could monetize and use to create wealth.

My friend is both a huge fan of Scotch, and also an excellent writer. Yet, when I suggested that he start a blog about exploring Scotch, he stated "but I am not an expert".

Not being an "expert" is a common reason people cite for not starting a blog, and yet I personally believe this should never be an obstacle. Perhaps your exploration of Scotch can use a beginner "voice"?

"Scotch is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”

Anyone can start a blog, and most will find it enhances their life both as a noble creative pursuit and also a method of wealth creation. And one certainly does not need to be "the" expert on Scotch. Instead, an honest blog about a "nubie" discovering new Scotches is likely to find a solid readership if it is well written and well produced.

Be honest with your readers that you a "learning with them", and make your content witty and engaging. With a strong and loyal readership, it will be straight-forward to monetize the blog at a later date.

Remember, as long as someone

(1) has a passion about a topic,
(2) is a good writer, and
(3) wants to make passive income by working hard at first (i.e. get your blog hosted and setup), but only a little later (only blog for a few hours a week, and make full time income) - then they can easily start a blog.

Furthermore, I think that someone can easily start a blog (using a solid and scalable blogging platform), IN LESS THAN TEN MINUTES.

Here are the steps you need to take.

1. Identify your main passion.
2. Buy a domain name (that describes your passion)
3. Buy hosting from a company you trust!
4. Point your domain name at your hosting
5. Write your first blog post!

Now you can call yourself a publisher, and sign up with affiliate advertising companies and start selling affiliate advertising for items that are related to your passion.

Here's an example,

1. I love Scotch!
2. So I purchase this domain, "scotch-expert.com", that at the time I wrote this blog was still available! (I wonder if my friend will buy it when he reads this post!)
3. Grab some cheap hosting! (I use wind powered hosting, check my blog sponsor on the right of this screen called WeDoHosting4Life.
4. Now people can visit "scotch-expert.com" (just an example) and see photos in my blog about my last tasting!
5. Now one could potentially sell some Scotch kits from these guys :

...now I don't really own "scotch-expert.com" (as I stated above it was just an example), but I think it is a great name, and I hope to convince my friend to buy it soon, for he is a great writer, a great photographer, and no doubt would create an interesting blog to read (and monetize!)
