What is the benefit of joining an affiliate network?
I have been blogging for a few years. When I first started out, I used Google Ad Sense as my advertising network. As a publisher, it was easy to sign up with Google and soon after I began earning money on my blog. However, overtime I got disappointed with my results. Why? First, because some of the adverts were not relevant to my niche readers – the automatic ad rotator misinterpreted the content of my webpage. As the automatic ads kept changing, sometimes they seemed on target, but other times they were way off target.
Overtime, I started looking for another solution. That’s when I discovered there are many other advertising networks, many of which I realised quickly would be better suited for my website.
My new advertising networks are a different breed from automated Google ads, or the small individual affiliate programs of other advertisers. Here are some of the benefits of joining an advertising network.
1. Easy selection of campaigns
I used to spend a long time finding and researching individual affiliate programs. I would find a single vendor and do enough research to justify joining their affiliate program. However, this was time consuming and potentially risky (as I was never sure how trust worthy a certain affiliate program was).
Now I belong to just 4 (but very large) networks, and each network has hundreds (if not thousands) of amazing campaigns. Also, each network has an advanced search engine where one can search for advertisers by a myriad of filters. These filters include date, average conversion rates, and product categories.
2. Predictable Ad placement
As I mentioned previously, often automatic advertising rotators (that parse keywords from a web page, and try and automatically place a relevant advert) fail to deliver. Why?. Because keyword confusion brings back a non-relevant advert, that has NO appeal to my niche reader. Consequently, when you manually select your own individual banners, you can be certain that your blog post (about HOSTING for example), will have a related advert near by. For example:
Blogging made easy - WordPress Hosting from GoDaddy.com!
3. Large selection of advert types
Online advertising inventory comes in many different forms. This inventory can be found on websites, in RSS feeds, on blogs, in instant messaging applications, in adware, in e-mails, and on other sources. Some examples of advertising inventory include: banner ads, rich media, text links, and e-mails. These are all available for the larger advertising networks.
4. Great reporting to learn what campaigns make you the most money
The advertising networks that I use all have detailed campaign reporting, great affiliate tools such as a Pixel Manager, a Post back manager, and a Banner Rotator with API (application programming interface), thereby making the publisher tools available to me extremely powerful.
Conclusion
So once you have setup your blog, instead of using Google by default, why don’t you try out one of these nu breed of advertising networks.
So I bet you are asking, ok which network do I use. Well here is one of networks I use. It’s called Neverblue.
